Your Gateway to Platform Engineering…
and Beyond
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and Linux Foundation Education are excited to introduce their newest certification, the Certified Cloud Native Platform Engineering Associate (CNPA). Platform engineering is reshaping how organizations build and manage software, creating scalable, self-service infrastructure that empowers developers. As demand for platform engineers continues to rise, professionals who can demonstrate these critical skills will stand out in a competitive job market.
“Platform engineering is fast becoming one of the most in-demand roles in cloud native. As organizations race to build scalable internal platforms and engineering teams, they need developers who can navigate both infrastructure and the developer experience,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO, CNCF. “The CNPA certification gives professionals a way to prove they have the skills to meet that challenge.”
Why CNPA?
The Certified Cloud Native Platform Associate Engineering (CNPA) certification validates your ability to integrate and orchestrate a broad range of technical skills to create reusable tools, automation and infrastructure. These capabilities enable developers to deliver code that is more secure, effective, and scalable. Whether you’re an early-career engineer or transitioning into platform engineering, CNPA proves you have what it takes to:
- Build internal developer platforms (IDPs) that streamline software delivery
- Leverage automation to enhance security, reliability and scalability
- Enable development teams to focus on innovation, not infrastructure
Who Should Get Certified?
The CNPA is ideal for:
- Cloud engineers and DevOps professionals looking to expand into platform engineering
- Software engineers interested in deepening their understanding of infrastructure automation
- IT professionals seeking a pathway to leadership roles like Platform Architect or Engineering Manager
The Certified Cloud Native Platform Associate Engineering (CNPA) certification is a 120-minute, multiple choice exam. Upon passing, you’ll earn a verifiable digital badge.
Enrollment in the exam includes 12 months to pass with two attempts. The CNPA exam covers the following domains and competencies:
- Platform Engineering Core Fundamentals – 36 percent
- Platform Observability, Security and Conformance – 20 percent
- Continuous Delivery and Platform Engineering – 16 percent
- Platform APIs and Provisioning Infrastructure – 12 percent
