OSChina, a leading media outlet and event host for the Chinese open source community, will partner with Linux Foundation APAC to launch a new initiative, the LF Open Source Software University. This initiative will combine OSChina’s reputation and contacts in the Chinese open source community with The Linux Foundation’s expertise in training and certifying open source professionals.
The Linux Foundation already offers several of its training courses and certification exams in Chinese. And the popular Certified Kubernetes Administrator exam is now available to take online with a remote Chinese-speaking proctor enabling individuals to take the exam from home or work, which is essential in the current era of COVID-19.
“The Linux Foundation has established a strong, respected reputation in China in recent years, thanks to its support of open source development and adoption in the country,” said OSChina CEO Yue Ma. “There is no better organization for us to partner with in order to increase the range of affordable, accessible training and certification options for aspiring open source professionals across China.”
The partnership, which was officially announced today via a virtual press conference with Chinese media outlets, will raise awareness of open source training options in China, and also help speed development of new offerings.
“OSChina has been a wonderful partner for many of our events and other initiatives in China, and we are thrilled to expand this partnership to training and certification,” said Clyde Seepersad, SVP and GM of Training & Certification at The Linux Foundation. “Our goal is to make open source educational opportunities accessible to anyone who wants them, and expanding our reach and offerings in the world’s largest country is a huge step forward in achieving that.”
