Open New Doors with Lightweight AI Skills That Scale
Linux Foundation Education has launched Deploying Small Language Models (LFWS307), a new, 3-day, instructor-led workshop designed for professionals who want to move beyond AI experimentation and into real, deployable AI systems. As organizations invest heavily in AI tools, but struggle to integrate them into cohesive, working platforms, the ability to deploy and operate small language models (SLMs) is becoming a critical skill. This is true for both enterprise teams and the IT professionals building their careers within them.
Across industries, many AI initiatives stall not because of model quality, but because integration proves difficult, expensive, or brittle. Professionals skilled in deploying SLMs help bridge these gaps, enabling AI systems that are faster to deploy, easier to operate, and more adaptable across environments. These capabilities allow organizations to make better use of existing AI investments, while positioning practitioners at the center of AI infrastructure, platform engineering, and deployment-focused roles that are increasingly in demand.
AI is no longer confined to centralized cloud platforms or GPU-heavy stacks. Organizations need MLOps Engineers, Platform Engineers, Backend Engineers, and infrastructure-focused developers who can design efficient AI systems that run anywhere, on laptops, servers, edge devices, and even in the browser. Deploying Small Language Models (LFWS307) builds exactly that capability, positioning you for high-impact roles in AI infrastructure, ML platforms, and cloud native environments where practical deployment skills matter most.
Over three days, Deploying Small Language Models (LFWS307) delivers more than 10 hours of hands-on labs focused on end-to-end, real-world SLM deployment. You’ll work directly with real models and real deployment targets, sourcing models from Hugging Face, packaging them as single-file executables with llamafile, and deploying production-grade inference pipelines using the PAIML Rust stack. Along the way, you’ll build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows, serve streaming APIs, deploy models to edge and browser environments using WebAssembly, and instrument systems with production-ready monitoring and tracing.
By the end of Deploying Small Language Models (LFWS307), you will be able to confidently deploy, operate, and scale SLMs in real-world environments, positioning yourself for advancement into AI infrastructure, ML platform engineering, and emerging lightweight AI deployment roles. Upon completing the workshop you will earn a Linux Foundation digital certificate of completion to verify your achievement.
