Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust and Linux Foundation Education have announced the launch of their new Besu Certified Professional (BCP) certification that enables IT professionals to prove their ability to work with Besu, an LF Decentralized Trust project. The BCP is designed for IT professionals looking to develop and demonstrate the skills to build and manage scalable networks and decentralized applications using Besu, an open source Ethereum client. Geared to those with a solid understanding of systems and applications, including full-stack engineers, DevOps engineers and developers, it certifies a strong understanding of blockchains, storage structures, network protocols and subsystems.
“For the enterprise adoption of Ethereum to scale, there must be a strong base of well qualified engineers and developers ready to build and support new decentralized applications and networks,” said Daniela Barbosa, General Manager of Decentralized Technologies at the Linux Foundation and Executive Director of LF Decentralized Trust. “This new certification follows a proven and efficient model for ensuring IT professionals are up to speed on the core requirements for developing and deploying Besu as an enterprise-grade technology. The BCP fills an important role, bridging the developer interest in Ethereum technologies and enterprise demand for certified experts.”

The 90-minute, multiple-choice BCP exam’s domains are:
- Besu Core Concepts – 24 percent
- Networking – 26 percent
- Transactions & Storage – 14 percent
- Cryptography – 10 percent
- Permissioning & Privacy – 10 percent
- Execution Engines & Consensus – 8 percent
- Monitoring – 8 percent
Those who successfully complete the Besu Certified Professional (BCP) certification exam will receive a certificate as well as a digital badge.
