Prove You Can Leverage OpenTelemetry for
Proactive Problem Solving
Cloud Native Computing Foundation and Linux Foundation Education are excited to announce the launch of the OpenTelemetry Certified Associate (OTCA) certification. Designed for Application Engineers, DevOps Engineers, System Reliability Engineers, Platform Engineers or any IT professional looking to increase their career trajectory by proving their abilities to leverage telemetry data across distributed systems to solve problems and increase team collaboration. OpenTelemetry is the industry standard for tracing, metrics and logs.
“OpenTelemetry is a transformative open source observability project for empowering engineers to deeply analyze the intricate behaviors of distributed systems across many integrations,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO, CNCF. “The OTCA shows a developer can implement observability frameworks as well as understand the subtleties of performance and data flow, skills critical for proactive and precise problem solving in cloud native applications.”
Those that earn the OTCA will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of the concepts of observability
- How OpenTelmetry enables the concepts of observability
- The major components of OpenTelemetry and how they are used
- Best practices for instrumenting cloud native applications for observability
“Earning your OTCA boosts your career by equipping you with sought-after skills for modern IT operations,” said Clyde Seepersad, SVP, General Manager, Linux Foundation Education. “These skills position you as a proactive, problem solving professional in an era of complex, distributed systems.”
The multiple-choice OpenTelemetry Certified Associate (OTCA) exam’s domains are:
- Fundamentals of Observability – 18 percent
- The OpenTelemetry API and SDK – 46 percent
- The OpenTelemetry Collector – 26 percent
- Maintaining and Debugging Observability Pipelines – 10 percent
Those who successfully complete the OpenTelemetry Certified Associate (OTCA) certification exam will receive a certificate as well as a digital badge.
